In an Emergency, call 000
If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 000 immediately.
If you have a non-life-threatening illness or injury, you can speak with a clinician from the comfort of your home using a smartphone, tablet or computer.
The Virtual Emergency Department (VED) provides free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week non-life threatening urgent care through video consultations with emergency doctors and nurses.
The Virtual Emergency Department can assist with a range of urgent but non-emergency health concerns, including:
Mild infections and illnesses
Fever, coughs and colds
Rashes and skin conditions
Minor injuries
Gastrointestinal symptoms
General health advice and assessment
Following your consultation, the clinician may:
Provide treatment advice
Arrange a prescription if appropriate
Recommend follow-up with your GP
Refer you to a local health service or emergency department if needed
VED may be suitable if:
You need medical advice but do not require an ambulance
Your condition is urgent but not life-threatening
You are unable to see your regular GP promptly
You would like an emergency clinician's assessment from home
